National Black Business Month

Writing by Design Media Inc, will host another edition of Candid Conversations with Entrepreneurs on Aug. 29 from 5:30PM - 7:00PM in recognition of National Black Business Month at 1331 Union Ave., 9th floor in Memphis, Tenn.


According to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette, National Black Business Month was created in 2004 to celebrate black-owned businesses. John William Templeton, historian and Frederick E. Jordan Sr. engineer, wanted to increase awareness about black-owned businesses.

This year's edition will focus on certification. According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), government contracting is a benefit to small business owners. Each panelist will share their experiences.


The panelists are Carolyn Michael-Banks, founder of A Tour of Possibilities; Alandas Dobbins, founder of Oteka Technologies, Inc.; Lauren Brown, founder of LRB Global Consulting Services - A Series LLC, LaShonda McBride, director of membership at MMBC Continuum; and Eric Ryan Brinson, co-owner of Writing by Design Media, Inc. will serve as the moderator.

The featured vendor is Lenore Ebule, founder of Bailan Spices.  Ebule has spices for seasoning vegetables, salads and other food items. Her culinary creations have also garnered recognition on esteemed platforms like QVC, HSN, The Daily Memphian, and various news outlets.
